I have noticed that running on the bottom half of the tank gives slightly better mileage averages. Packing around another 75 pounds of fuel with plenty of stations nearby does not make for improved mileage. Seems many of the smaller fuel efficient cars of today have tanks with 12 or 13 gallon capacity. Weight reduction is one of the easy methods of increasing mileage.

I've been saying that for years, if you want to improve safety, put that spike on every vehicle and people will drive safer. And for those that don't, it'll thin out the herd a little.

This is true but that also means less momentum for EOC

I used to own a 73 F350 that I mounted a lift (not the hydraulics) on the back and made it a car hauler. People would borrow it and bring it back with the tank empty and after I ran out of gas driving 2 miles to the nearest station, I disconnected the sending unit, tank was behind the drivers seat inside the cab! Never had a problem after that. Bought the cab-chassis brand new for $3600.

regards
Mech

I LOVE THAT! Guy has a $400 a month car payment and spends another $400/month on gas. I have Zero payments and spend $401/month on gas. That guy is $1 a month ahead of me? Doubt it. My extra $399 goes into boat gas. Ahh, I guess we are even.

Then when his awesome gas mileage car needs a hybrid gizmo for $4000, I'll be buying another boat. Still both broke, the planet may like him better but I'm having more fun.
