I have an engineer friend who worked for Ford in Detroit years ago. He refused to own a Ford after Ford made a decision to put 25,000 mile wheel bearings in their cars, saving $.50/bearing, when it could have spent the extra $.50 for 50,000 mile wheel bearings. Come to think of it, that knowledge went a long way in helping me decide to by a Datsun in 1970, rather than an American car.

No ****. I can only imagine how great this place was back when the population was 1/2 or 1/3 or 1/4 of what it is now. Oh well, just think of how much better off everyone is with all the added scientists and whatnot.

Actually I might as well join the club out here; if I'm going to be subjected to intrusive human breeder activity in Cali or out in the middle of nowhere in Frozenville, Northland, I might as well be in a place that doesn't have cold, wind, and night for seven months of the year... and where they don't saturate the roads with vehicle destroying chemicals.

That was in the 60's? Cars have gotten more reliable since then, Fords too. I've only replaced one Ford wheelbearing ever, and that was only as a precaution as I myself carelessly nicked one of the bearing races. Eh, it was cheap to replace too!
