Sorry to hear it.
How far away are the tanks from your home.

That sucks!!!

I agree with putting some dummy tanks out and laugh when those get stolen.

I know one shop owner who thought one of his guys was stealing some of his engine oil in bottles. He took a few new ones, cracked them open and dumped the metal shavings from the break lathe in. It didn't take long for him to figure out which employee it was. One of the mechanics came in complaining about how his engine started knocking and locked up on him. Customers cars always got new bottles from another area of the shop so he knew they wouldn't get the laced oil.

Rather than put gas in the diesel tanks and diesel in the gas tanks....get a big stencil out and paint D I E S E L on the one holding gas.

A small go kart track by me had the same trouble so they bought a new tank and put it in a shed while they took bags of sugar and lots of left over sodas and filled the old gas tank! Thieves get off way easier when caught than with some good street justice, even if not caught!

Good morning, if you're still on this forum, I have a problem. I went to salvage one of our trucks and found 35 gallons of gas in the tank. It's been sitting for about 5 years and smells like lacquer. Can it be saved?

Tnx

It might be able to be saved, but I wouldnt count on it. Is it gas or diesel?

Either way you are going to have to drain it so I would go ahead and do that and see if it has turned to sludge or not.

It's gasoline. I've already drained the tank into a 50 gal drum. There is no sludge, but it smells like lacquer. I'm going to try running some through a diesel filter tomorrow and then try it out in a 5 HP gasoline engine. Hate to waste it at $3.00 per gal.

Yeah, it might still be good. We leave gas sitting at the farm for longer but it also gets stirred up every so often.
