I don't see any need to be cruel... just because it's marketed with unrealistic optimism doesn't make it evil.
If I stuck some of these to my car and it didn't change anything whatsoever about my fuel consumption, but someone saw 'em and asked me what they're for, and I got them interested in the idea of taking a personal role in your own fuel consumption - any fuel THAT PERSON saves is still fuel that I caused to be saved.
I know it's indirect - and I'm not planning to buy any Gaspods - but my point here is that I don't believe they're a harmful product, nor are they even guilty of the same level of uselessness as shT like The Intake Tornado! or Gas Tank Magnets! ... not enough to warrant our cruelty. They belong in the unicorn corral until proven otherwise, that's been done, now I'm going to get back to taking needless recreational camping trips in a V8 powered, corn fueled jeep.

I've seen a few as well. The defense elsewhere is similarly lacking in useful information. I almost quoted the claimed difference between VG's and these pods, but decided it wasn't worth it - would have come across as taunting. |

My 2007 Mustang could exceed 30 MPG with those. I can state that as a fact without even trying them.

I just put this on their company Facebook page. Lets see how long it stays there.
"You made the claim in Ecomodder that your company is "Transparent". If this is so, then what I ask next won't cause this Post to be deleted. Why don't you perform a simple coast down test to determine the effectiveness of your GasPods? On a calm
day, with and without the GasPods installed, you could time how long it takes to slow down, while in neutral, to a certain speed starting from 55mph or so. Or you could coast down a hill and log speed and/or time it takes to go a certain distance. You would have real world data in an hour on how well GasPods work without logging 4,000 miles of data with huge variables involved. In the 55,000 miles of data on my Honda Civic, I have logged between 27 and 42mpg tanks of gas, so this makes me skeptical of the testimonial method of positive results you claim."

There was a guy on here who put them on his Jetta TDi and actually got WORSE mileage from them. I mean they're not really designed for fuel economy. Seeing as they come on the Evo 8 and 9 MR to drive more air towards the wing and create more downforce/aka drag, I don't see how they could be used in a benefical way for FE at all

If they work, by bending the air around curves it'd otherwise detach from - thus reducing the wake.
I'm still hoping to hear how they differ from VGs ... well, not really.
They're too streamlined to do much IMO.
VGs don't need to be big to do something - saw that on my own car - but wether it's enough to help FE is something else again.

A simple semi spherical bump is all that is needed to mix the slower boundary layer with the faster moving air above it. Before it goes over the bump the slower boundary layer only has faster moving air above it to help move it along. When the boundary layer is on top of the bump it has faster moving air on the top and sides. This faster moving air then will accelerate the boundary layer by transferring some of its energy to the boundary layer. Once the now faster moving boundary layer decends down the back side of the bump it merges with other slow air in the boundary layer and helps accelerate it.
A dimple on a golf ball works kind of the same way except sucks some of the faster moving air down to accelerate the slower air around the dimple.
The following report describes boundary layer control using all sorts of techniques. Included are VGs, Arches, Cylindrical posts, and many more. Its a good read if you have the time.
