Exactly. I never worry about fuel prices anymore. And I don't grimmace at the cost of fueling at the pump. I'm too busy noting how close I am to 60, 65, 67, or 70 mpg.

My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.

Welcome, Ryan.

Filled up again since you dropped your average speed?

Welcome...

The very 1st and most important thing you should do is buy a MPGuino.

Without instantaneous feedback it is hard to know what works and what doesn't.

I've got a few days left till im due for a fill up and any improvements are going to be negligible this time due to bad traffic and idle time for trouble shooting (had groundwire break on starter solenoid), and as for MPGuino i believe there are issues trying to get it to work with my car? but I may install a tachometer instead

Yes.

I'm surprised I didn't say the same thing myself - it's usually the first thing out of my mouth.

Don't underestimate the value of instant/resettable average fuel consumption feedback.

FIND OUT if it'll work in your car. This should be on the top of your list.

Or a Vacuum gauge would be good too.

well ive been driving the mercury since tuesday and i'm due for a fill-up tomorrow, gotta say i'm lovin this little car it's a mercury mystique GS with a 2.0l 4 cylinder engine and was an insane deal for 1100 dollars when i got it mechanically speaking shes was in great shape cosmetically 8/10 and the radio/dome/power mirrors didn't work and shes missing the passenger mirror glass

got the radio and such working again and ordered new mirror glass for 12 bucks plus shipping from rockauto inflated all 4 tires to 46 PSI and coast in neutral and in neutral for all red lights, fingers crossed for 30-32 mpg
