It's a nice bike, but don't get too excited about the MPG even if it is 50% better than comparable performance sport bikes.

Motorcycle ICE efficiency is very low in general.

My 2014 Zero S 11.4 for comparison probably is 85% to 95% energy efficient and when I was commuting to work recently I got this MPG:
125 MPG at maximum speed possible
190 MPG at 75-85 MPH tucked
600 MPG drafting a truck at 65 MPH for 6 miles and using only 3%, 11.4 KwH is about 1/3 of a gallon equivalent energy. ICE efficiency at low throttle can't get close to this!

Also the carbon intensity of the charging power (mostly solar) is at least 10X better than direct combustion.

Zero's are very fun to ride.

BTW I have a few gas bikes also for longer range, but these days I mostly just use them to solve my mole problem in my yard.

I set the speed limiter in custom mode to 85 MPH to avoid too many tickets, so that was mostly at 85 MPH, traffic permitting.

Rode way up north, on a little road SH57, up where the pavement ends. I stopped and while i looked up the rode at some mountains i realized that was part of Canada! Beautiful ride!!! Rode around a bit, found a secluded camp site that i'll make plans to return to for sure. Came back down through Nordman Idaho, then further down to Priest River Id and stopped at a neat little 60's diner/burger joint. Enjoyed a delicious burger/fries and rode home. 215 mile round trip, netted me 78-mpg! :{)

Today was my Combat Veteran friend Sam's first ride with me. He's the one i wrote about in another post, that unbeknownst to me was living his motorcycle dreams vicariously through my posts and had never mentioned it. Well, he then started borrowing my NC700 for rides and fell in love with my bike. So we spoke about getting him his own so he'd leave mine alone hahaha. I found him one over in Seattle Wa and we made a 13hr round trip and he then had his own bike!

Now after nearly two months, we were finally able to take our first ride together. We took I-90 from PF to Wolf Lodge, then SH97 south to Harrison for Pie/Ice Cream of course. Then continued south on SH97 to SH3 and on to St Maries where we stopped at My Kitchen Family diner. Then SH3 north to Rose Lake and went west bound on I-90 up over the pass to SH41 and stopped for fuel. It was a nice 127 mile trip, and with identical bikes Sam got 79 mpg and i got 91 mpg! Great ride, beautiful day, great friendship and of course delicious PIE! :{)

91 mpgUS is incredible for a comfortable bike that can carry a big guy. The Honda 700 engine is by far the most volumetrically efficient engine ever put in a motorcycle. And it is offered with a dual clutch automatic transmission for those that don't want to shift.

I just wish they had put the fuel filler at the side of the seat like the BMW instead of underneath.

This is by far the most comfortable MC i've ever owned, by far and i've owned a lot of them over the 40+ years i've been riding them.


I've got my Baby-CBR up for sale and my CRF230 for sale as well. Sad to see them both go, but i won't ride either of them again so it's a better use of those funds to be in my credit union then stored in the bike shed!

Yesterday I took a nice little 515+ mile ride and "tested" out my new-to-me Shad seat, It was a great ride. I left Post Falls and headed over to Coeur d'Alene and took US95 south to Lewiston, then SH12 east to Orofino for a quick lunch at the famous Krystal Cafe(they did not have any PIE, though i did get to meet up with two ADV riders). Then i continued east on SH12 all the way over to Lolo Pass and on to Lolo Mt(i should have thought to bring a pair of shorts and stopped at the Lolo Hot Springs). Then I headed north on US93 to Missoula to the RMEF building(which was nearly over grown by weeds and looks closed down). I then contimued w/b on I-90 and stopped in St Regis at the Frosty Drive-In for a quick burger/fries and continued on home. My previous longest ride on the factory seat had been a painful 200 miles! Shad makes a great seat and i am very pleased with it. I rode a total of 540 miles, and netted a fantastic 78-mpg!

You are racking up the miles! I wonder if the excellent fuel efficiency would have been even better with the stock exhaust. That looks pretty loud.
