If you could fill any car with Prius guts, which would you choose? :)

I wonder about the possibility of putting a Prius drivetrain in the back of various small coupes (like a Mustang II) or transverse mid engine 2 seaters like a Fiero, Fiat/Bertone X1/9, or to keep it in the Toyata family an MR2.

I havnt really looked into the Rav4 system yet, mainly due to cost. The cheapest rav4 hybrid i can find online in the country at the moment is nearly $40,000. meanwhile i picked up my Prius for $2350

Also ease of conversion, swapping in the prius drivetrain in the manner im imagining would keep all of the standard van driveshafts, mounts, suspension, diffs etc etc, whereas a Rav4 driveline would require all new suspension, subframes, mounts, fuel tank relocation, etc etc

If you're looking for the Prius Guts to stuff into something else, there's a wrecked 2005 on Facebook Marketplace in Vancouver, WA for $1200. Hit in the right front. Headlight obliterated, fender peeled back, side of hood severely bent. Listed 3 weeks ago.

I would like to see the guts of my car perform in a car like the Prius. Or even better, in a first generation Insight. Why not in a high-end luxury car like the new Mercedes A with with a Cd of 0.22 ...

It's a matter of time until the price decreases, or maybe you could take a look at whatever cheap JDM hybrid stuff you may get an easier access there.

No conversion is absolutely easy at all, plus there were at least one Chevrolet Art-Déco truck rebuilt around a 1st-gen Prius front end and a Pontiac Firebird being rebuilt around the floorpan of a Prius v. Not sure how hard it might be to get a similar conversion registered in Australia though.

After seeing a handful of Volvo XC40 T5 PHEVs this week, it gots me thinking about how they could fare with a Prius powertrain instead of its stock one. It's quite interesting to say the least, looking at the different approaches taken by Toyota and Volvo when it comes to their hybrids.
