Oh, good eye there.

Top one very VW Type-3 looking.

Bottom one first gen Corviar-ish (greenhouse/rear quarter).

We'll have to agree to disagree.

The Type 542 hood and windshield resembles the early 'short nose' Type III, but not the later 'long nose'. Taking off the front bumper would destroy the resemblance, adding the side crease would improve it. I think the roof and rear quarters are heavy and '1950s' when compared to the graceful notchback Type III.

Then there is the whole 120° V-6 with three-speed transmission in the front scenario.

The first gen Corvair had a pronounce ledge that ran around the entire beltline, the Studebaker concept may have that in the rear but not over the headlights. It reminds me more of a mini-Mercedes from that era. All it needs is glass covers over the headlights.

Edit: Oops, forgot to include an interesting aerodynamic etc. JACG is at SEMA.

That's not a spoiler, that's a base plate that reaches up to the template line:

If I ever saw a car that was more aerodynamic going backwards, this is it.

Somebody drew a CAD model of the Pink Panther!

The car is inspiring. Not for the grotesque overdone style, but that it looks aero (backwards) and one could make that platypus tail fold up for parking.

The Pink Panthermobile's designer, Ed 'Newt' Newton, attended Art Center School and then worked for Ed Roth airbrushing wierdo t-shirts.

As for faster backwards, the high tail and narrow rear track would work against it. But with the driver in the rear, I could see a big Rat Fink looming over the roof holding a six-foot floor shifter.

Ack! This thread fell off the front page. Can anyone ID this car?

It appeared in the 2016 LA Auto Show, in a booth with 4 or more Art Deco handbuiilt aluminum cars. I can't find anything on it searching on Blastolene Bros.

Anyone go to the show?

Edit: Also:

Tall, narrow tires taken to the extreme, with 'tweels' with spokes not in tension, for suspension. Try putting Moon disks on that.

It's got Woodlite projector headlights.

Any idea on the one at the LA Auto show?
