Well, those wheels spats are for a track vehicle - they have virtually no ground clearance, whatsoever.

Anyone in a vehicle traveling above 30 mph on the open road would benefit from a restraint system. Perhaps 40 mm spat clearance is enough for road use.

Your second picture is of the Blowfish. It's in the same league as the Stupidbaker:

They talk about the great applications for curving polycarbonate for aerodynamics, then produce this as the proof of concept.

Concept EV uses LEXAN windows to boost range
https://chargedevs.com/newswire/conc...o-boost-range/

Quote:
The concept vehicle, developed as part of the Visio.M (Visionary Mobility) project, uses windows made of LEXAN resin, a polycarbonate (PC) material made by Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). Compared to conventional glass, using the LEXAN windows reduces weight by over 13 kg and extends driving range by up to two km. Polycarbonate’s superior insulating properties reduce demands on the car’s heating and air conditioning system, and make possible up to 15 additional kilometers in extended range. The concept EV weighs 450 kg (without battery), and has a 15 kW motor.......................

Current European regulations permit PC to be used for all automotive windows except the windshield.
Looks fairly aerodynamic, kind of.

Those wheel flares are pure drag.

The first picture of the silver belly pan is also that car, and the reason I posted it at all.

...Unless widening the body to fit the track would add frontal area. Putting a wide body on a car designed for a narrower track is what we're used to seeing.

The Saudis are turning petroleum into glazing?
'Up to' seven times the saving from insulation vs weight savings?
992lb/20hp? It's a flyweight
I included the first picture, then edited it out because I couldn't be completely sure.

Sarcasm?

Nearly all plastics are by products of gasoline refinement.

If you are in Canada you can watch on line a current CBC special about the history of oil. I have my roof top antenna pointed at Windsor and watch it live, fascinating program.

EDIT: It's on TVO, TV Ontario the education station.

Planet Oil
https://tvo.org/programs/planet-oil
Quote:
Around the world, oil and gas fields are running dry or have become politically or environmentally toxic. For all the talk of renewables and nuclear, few doubt that humans will continue to rely on fossil fuels for the foreseeable future. Travelling to many oil- and gas-producing territories, geologist Iain Stewart traces how humans have developed fuels and how geology, technology, politics and commercial pressures have affected our insatiable consumption.
