Porsche Boxster Shooting Brake, Yes or No?
Porsche Boxster Shooting Brake, Yes or No? - Pelican Parts Forums

Quote:
The detail at this IG profile here is hard to find/sift through for this 986 Shooting Brake, but Van Thull Development (Dutch fabricators) are hard at work to get it complete. Believe it! It's a 986 Boxster under all custom body work with donor parts from a 997 that make it pretty unrecognizable. What are your thoughts on this project?

Dodge Magnum-style hatch.

Otherwise, it will lower the resale value.

An interesting story about the most beautiful car ever made.

Props to Komenda and the German aerodynamicists, and it turns out the coupe won on efficiency, by not needing one refueling pit stop.

Pete Brock himself says that the Daytona was considered ugly when it was built. The 5 copies of his original made in Italy were even modified by the crew there who couldn't stand the appearance of the low windshield, and added an inch.
Enzo Ferrari, among others, considered the Jaguar E type the most beautiful car, and its designer didn't even sketch lines. Malcolm Sayer worked with aero equations to produce the curves everybody liked, and refined them with tuft testing: In both cases, form followed function, with great success. Stylists, take note, and get back to the art galleries.

I feel the Cobra Coupe's best angle is 3/4 rear. It's also worth mentioning that the prototype didn't have active aerodynamics because it "would have taken 3 or 4 days".

Chip Foose had an XKE at SEMA. I really like the color.

Not so successful:

https://inhabitat.com/cambridge-stud...-electric-car/

It has that weird divot behind the rear axle. I think it's caused by the door cutline.

The Cambridge University Eco Racing (CUER) Helia has solar cells on the top - so that would explain the tail staying wide.

I'd say it was much more successful at being low(er) drag.

Helia electric car runs at 50mph on power it takes to boil kettle

Agreed it wins for Cd. My point is apparent in the last pic. The ducktail shape is mandated but the body taper starts at the rear door. They let the inside structure of the door dictate the evolution of the surface.

The reason I prefer the Brock Shelby coupe is the XKE windshield doesn't fillet into the hood (and the boxed cavity tail). See the Talbot-Lago coupes or even the VW Type III.

In all the wonderful stories about the Daytona Coupe, nobody ever mentions the Ferrari Breadvan, which had a flat back and roof two years earlier. https://www.ecosia.org/images?q=Ferrari+Breadvan

Lacks taper in plan.

I sometimes dream of other cars' details morphed onto my ideal, the 4-passenger rear-engined Volhart Saggitta V2 from 1947. In this case it would be the tail end of the 1962 El Tiburon.

Let's see — Tiburon (El Shark) tail end, Talbot-Lago windshield fillet, Subaru SVX side windows and an active wing between the front pontoon fenders. 21st century lamps and mirrors. That oughta do it.
