I was always a fan of the Republic SeaBee. This is a similar airframe. Also a fan of the Prandtl-D wing. It has washout at the wingtips to reduce or eliminate tip drag. Airliners use vertical rudderlets. This seems to be similar, with a swept back tip that prolly washes out.

Wingtip washout is usually very hard to see, but easy to create with minor adjustments to the angle of the airfoils. After much testing, there is a small advantage shown for the "Finch tip" - a wing that tapers to a point, with a slightly swept back tip. That minimizes induced drag by pushing down gently near the wingtips, but without the wasted surface area of washout on a square or rounded tip.

As I said, Seabee fan. The modern iteration is the Icon A5. I'm imagining something like this as a high-wing and with the sponsons pushed forward to make a [stall resistant] canard.

I like the tip feathers of birds that make use of the wingtip vortices to create thrust. There's an intriguing mention of it in one of the aircraft aero books I have.
