Exactly right. Most of the used EVs have travelled in from CA.

Gotta love these brain-dead laws that introduce new and interesting problems due to manipulating normal market behavior.

I'd vote for any politician who would promise to do absolutely nothing during their term. At least they wouldn't continually work to make everything worse in the name of progress.

By the way, the used (and new) EV credit is subsidized by a 1% tax on all vehicles purchased at a dealership, so all vehicles are at least 1% more expensive.

It’s worth noting the original Kandi COCO circa 2009 was $9999 before credits and free after credits in some states

I remember people were getting free golf carts around that time due to yet another braindead federal tax credit.

There was also that immediate capitol investment write off for business who bought something over 8000 lbs gvwr. A bunch of direct sales like Amway and Scentsy went out and bought Hummer H2s.

I think that rule is still in place but now its 6000 pounds and you have to take it over 4 years. Before you could wait until December, buy one, use it 100% for business use for a month, deduct the whole depreciation for that year, and move on with your life in a large SUV to be used business or pleasure as you wanted.

I see myself starting a business in the next couple years and purchasing a CyberTruck. It should tip the scales above 6k.

Followed by endless scrolling blurbs for other articles.

Where closer look? Where?

LOL I incidentally bought a bunch of Kandi stock back in 2014. Kept getting cold feet on selling every time it spiked, so that investment hasn't done particularly well, but I'm hoping I get my lucky break again. Yes they're gunning for all the subsidies possible to turn a profit, basically a bet that government subsidies will continue into the future. Can't say that's a bad idea...

When I saw the cars I was really wondering "what is the point of this? Who is going to buy this?", then I remembered that Smart Cars exist and people buy them. I think of it as an electric Smart, would be a good budget city car.

I'm kind of amazed that deeply discounted Leafs and i3s are still around. Who are the people blowing money buying these new and then getting rid of them?

Well we're being asked to not talk about taxes, but the answer to your question is that there are massive "incentives" that distort the market, causing people to purchase new EVs. There are large unadvertised discounts available for some models too. The Chevy Bolt can be purchased for $25k new, out the door.

Kandi EV aka China EV

FYI
Kandi EV is opening a sales office in Garland Texas (DFW metro area)near me

Will not purchase a Kandi EV reasons

All business in China is either state own or state party member directed

China CCP Brutal Atheist Evil to the core regime Forced Labor live Human organ harvesting mass killing of internal population Genocide manipulation and subjugation of world resources and economies.

Low or questionable quality (no matter what the price may be)

unproven China startup and no dealer service network

BMW, Nissan, FCA, Puegot, GM, Ford , Toyota will get my EV money
