I grew up in the shadow of oil refinery smokestacks, when the air was so polluted, we'd have coughing fits playing touch football. Driving through LA, the smog was so thick, visibility in the middle of the day was like being in the middle of a fog bank.

Anybody who mocks the EPA is a moron. That means several of you who are politicizing this thread.

Oh, I see. It's perfectly fine for you to call those with whom you disagree "morons", but it's not OK for anyone to say anything critical (or even humorous) about government, laws or licensing.

Should we also forbid quoting a Beatles song because it irritates you?

I'm glad YOU aren't running this list.

This is a message From Me to You.

What we need to do here is Get Back to the subject at hand. And thats how to Drive My Car.

As for the EPA, Let it Be.

Yesterday I was a little under the weather but today I Feel Fine. So much so I went touring on a Magical Mystery Tour, I was a Day Tripper.

But I didn't stay long "Hello, Goodbye" was all I had time for because I had to catch a bus, I had a Ticket to Ride.

I was on a double decker, and on the top I felt as Free as a Bird.

I could do better with a little Help but its getting late here. In fact its been a Hard Days Night.

*(OK somebody please do better, its bedtime - and I'm more Britpop than a Beatles fan)

EDIT - the first person to quote Michael Buble goes on the naughty step.

Which gets even more "insignificant" when you take into account the percentage of motorcyclists killed in accidents vs total traffic mortality : some 15% here in Belgum !

good use of quotes on that one, there are so many morons on the roads these days they might as well give away drivers licences in Cracker Jack's boxes. actually, that could explain all the morons

As I mentioned in another thread, here in NY state during the 90's they were handing out driver's licenses to virtually anyone who could sign their name and pay the fee. (Not to mention the illegal immigrants who quickly learned they can drive without licenses, without incurring any penalty. If someone has no license you can't threaten them with revocation of it.)

With such lax standards, driving a motor vehicle now amounts to: "No experience required" or, "On the job training".

Licensing fees were expanded and increased to support the ever burgeoning state budget... in other words it has become a convenient and dependable "cash cow".

Mooooo!

I once heard from a music person, of which I am not, that you can play that using one colour notes only.

The problem with most attempts to make the world "idiot proof" is that nature always seems to evolve a superior idiot.
