your metro comes in calif. and fed 48 flavors.

here is fed page 1 and 2

its a shame , my car has external Ignitor, yours is inside ecu , and the spark is monitored internal to the ecu on you year, bah.
so cut the ppl wire( purple) to ecu pin9 CMP input. aka ,
Quote:
ign. refr, in.
see page 2 , this power feed top right corner is yoiur Ignition switch KEY ON , input.

this is from pub. lib. any gay/gal has this access, btw.

this example will die in 12hr, so DL it.

zip file.

cutting the pin nine ppl wire, will in fact set dtc code 42 , but will clear itself.
this kills spark and fuel both , one wire and will not blow anything up or hurt the ecu.

tell me how it works.
cheers

hey cool! thanks for the pdf diag's will take me some time to parse them to be able to really use them but some of it already makes sense. Pretty simple diag's (makes sense I guess simple car simple electrical)

So turning the key to off then back on is bad? if so I will stop doing that pronto. while ECU's for this are pretty cheap $40-$50 they don't appear in pic and pulls very often and I have never seen an XFI so far. Plus its a waste to damage something especially for a tiny gain.

so the Injector cut off as described in the first post is the best way to go?

ok finally read it all and it seems Cam Sensor is the way to go for quick clean cut off and maybe no relay needed?? Jtgh what do you think of this?

one thing lacking is HOW do do this? where is the cam sensor? Exposed wires to tap into? do I just "cut one" and wire in a switch?

I see it on page 1 of the diag's you posted for me but for that one thing it does not "tell" me where it is (most of the things it describes the location)

is it ON the distributor? (its right next to the dist in the diag)

also if this is the way to go I am going to rig a DUAL switch configuration.

I want a DASH switch that "enables and disables" the cut off switch and the momentary cut off that I will mount to the stick.

ie when the dash switch is OFF I want the momentary to do NOTHING. this way if someone else is driving the car I don't want them spooked and wrecking my metro when they "grab" the stick and hit the momentary without realizing what it is or that it is even their.

How would you wire something like that? Would I just jump the two connections on the momentary to the single throw switch so the "loop" is closed whether the momentary is pushed or not?

Once you tap into the cam sensor wires you might want an extra switch that will keep it disabled. Hide it somewhere under the dash and you've got an extra anti-theft system

I still can't find mine

good idea and I know an invisible way of hiding it where it will NEVER be found but where its super easy for me to know what to do :-)

won't stop a flat bed though. already had 3 incidents where someone came to "look" at my VW Thing with a Flat Bed.

so now its up against the building and 2 trailers and a car "blockading" it in. F*&$#ING Thieves.

all you guys the schematics are free,
1: public library card in hand (huge prop. taxes , huh)
2: Go online, your loc. or region Pub.lib. (google or call them)
3: log in using bar code on back.
4: click E-sources, then Auto Repair.

mine, has, Chiltions, Mitchells, and Alldata.
yours will have 1 or all 3. i bet.

so why guess?
the metro is in the base of the dizzy and i got him that schematic in under 5min.

2 switches in series not big deal, do it.

one toggle (antitheft) other kill mom. open.

one newer cars the cam sensor is well on the end of the cam , where else.?
some have 3 wires other many .
3 wires, power , ground and output.
others have more outputs, (like I said, lots and lots of ignition designs)
look on Megasquirt.com and read , about ignitions schemes. vast ........

turning the key on 2 times a day is nothing.
doing it 100 times , and down every freakn hill , is another.
you are surging everything on the output of the switch, not a good idea with any electronics. Even Hot swap serial Scsi drives in servers say, only do it when needed.
they have special surge suppressors and have a short life time ,too boot.

even that poor main relay gets beat to death (arcs too , every time you move it)

if you need help with wire colors on other cars , holler. i can dig up cam sensors on any car.

break a leg.

Something like this. To add a anti-theft switch, just add a SPST to either one of the wires going to the CPS or ECU.

sorry , was pop off to store and in hurry.
any switch that can open will work for the thieft. sure SPST is minimal but not mandatory.
2 pole , 3 pole , single or double throw.
it's just a switch and the current is not an issues nor the voltage.
12v, zippo current.

we call this a Any in the junk box , switch.
toggle.
maybe you might us a key switch. who knows what suits your fancy.

cheers.
