You can do whatever you want with some fiberglass skills and a rapid prototyper. You could probably make it work with just fenders/hood/bumper/grille, but the headlights would be a big sticking point. Interesting photoshop job there, but it will never happen. The closest we ever had was a Capri and we all know what happened to that.

I'm hoping Lincoln would upgrade the interior...not that the Mustang has a bad interior, but ya know...maybe massage the suspension and steering a bit too. Plus all those tech upgrades people like

jamesqf -- Like jcp123 sez. Maybe I'm speaking beyond my experience here—I haven't ridden in a Mustang since the 80s. (my brother's police special, tan with dual spotlights).

I'd draw comparisons with my son's SRT-8; there are three build levels below that. His has a sensor on the dash that monitors your body temp and adjusts the HVAC accordingly. Maybe Mustangs do that.

I'll admit I've been skeptical since they slid the cowl back 6" on the 60s Ford Falcon and called it a 'pony car'. I preferred the Falcon Futura Sprint 2-dr hardtop to the Mustang.

Well now, the v6 gets nothing. To get any options, one must get the ecoboost- starting a few grand more. Then, to be equipped like a base model Lincoln, one needs a Premium, and then a bit more.

I would want one because at their price range, a base MKM would be cheaper than a Mustang to match. I fear they will jack the price up just because, and not offer a standard.

Wish I wasn't mobile so I could have a better experience :/ (can't see the other messages well, this box doesn't show me mybtedt as I type, so on).

Nah, Mustangs are pretty sophisticated compared to where they started from, but not high tech in the nexus of the market. Certainly no body-sensing climate controls, though they have the basic chops for a good GT car.

Mustang today is a very different beast from its origins as a sporty looking econobox. The chassis has taken a huge leap forward with excellent handling from a live-axle car, and pretty civilized inside too. I think there's enough to make a Lincoln out of it IF they try harder than they have lately with their badge engineering.

I dunno... To me, that is just effing SICK.

But it'd still be the same basic car underneath, just as a Cadillac is just a Chevy with some cosmetic tweaks to the sheet metal, some bells & whistles, and maybe a leather interior.

Actually Cadillac commendably share little with most Chevrolets. Cadillac has developed platforms and identities apart from other GM divisions, even as Chevy and Buick share much underneath. There was a time in the 70s and 80s where Cadillac shared an uncomfortable amount of platform and tech with their "lesser" cousins, but little of that holds true today.

Cadillac ain't perfect but Lincoln could learn a lot from them. 10 years has seen a really good turnaround in Cadillac's image.
