Look what I found

pretty cool. I was driving to the baseball field to help my step dad fix the batting cages and saw this thing on the way and had to stop on the way back and check it out. The owner of the small shop said it is one of his friends cars he had sitting in a field and he wants to get it running now.

I have never seen one in person and was amazed at how simple this thing is

the guy said a couple people have asked him if its for sale, his buddy isn't selling. But I'll go back and give him my card, just in case. It has a crack in the plastic, looks like it can be fixed with some epoxy.

I wouldn't mind driving that weird car to work, and maybe to school(If I can plug it in)

that is in great shape and appears to be a very early model as by 1975 they had the fake wood grain dash and that dash has a origonal looking citicar sticker on the corner and stock gauges but fewer of them, and a single crack is nothing, they all have cracks, some of them have chunks missing.
Everything has a price, you just have to figure out what this guys price is.

heh.. jeeze.. I'll go back tomorrow... I would buy it if I could. But to make me want it i would need to be able to get 40 miles round trip and at least achieve 50mph.

I'll go back tomorrow after putting in my new window regulator. I'll have to talk to the shops friend and deal with him directly.

I don't know.... Ryland looks pretty bad-ass driving his. Plus, all the chicks will think it's a "cute" car.

You'll probably have to settle for 20miles @ 30mph, if your lucky. You only get 40 miles @ 50mph running a lead sled or an advanced EV.

You could probaby build your own relatively easy. Complexity and commutacar never see each other in the same sentence. The commutacar may have insurance/legal advantages owing to its age, though.

What kind of prices do this things command nowadays?

I'll still stop by and see what i can get it for...

but...

seriously, I'd rather build my own EV and get better range and safety than that.. thing

If it is a '75, it may be a 36v / 3.5 HP model. Those go about 28 MPH, and have a range of 20 miles or so.

My 1976 48v model goes 35, and would have a 32 mile range with eight 6v batteries. I have six 8v batteries as I prefer less weight, so the maximum range is 24 miles. Went that far once. In general, I use it for 10 or so miles a day.

Upgraded to 72 volts, Citicars have been known to go over 50 MPH, but range will probably never be much more than 30-35 miles until Lithium becomes cheaper than the entire car...

Like that color!
