The question is, what is lugging? The only approach I can utilize here is that she'll complain when she doesn't like it. This is why I usually avoid using her at those <2.5k range (except for low gears) and am gentle with the throttle at low revs. Over 3-3.5k I can gratify my passion and do aggressive pulses

I know people at f650.com who say never to use this engine under 4k - this is what I call extreme babying by not babying and I think it's highly superstitious and it seems she can cope with my typical 2.5-3.5k range on the long term too.

Hey, I just found this and wanted to share it. It is a neat looking Craig Vetter type Fairing on a Wild Texas Mile type bike! Guy runs over 300MPH with it!

That's a landspeed fairing, it looks like the same one Fred Hayes has on his Diesel bike minus the nose. it would be pretty awesome if someone put one on a FI scooter tuned for FE, but the fairing would cost more than the scooter.

Craig Vetter still sells his MPG fairing from the 80's mold for $1350. It is even better as it has the front wheel enclosed.

vetter's mpg fairing is extremely small, look at the pics from the 80's on his site. it could be adapted to fit a larger bike, but even Craig opted not to do so. his new kit would be interesting to check out, but we don't know what the price is yet. I for one will be asking about that when I see him at mid-ohio for this year's challenge.

The fairing Hayes uses is made by Airtech - ("sidecar GSXR" fairing, about 8 down - http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/.../landspeed.htm)

It's a bit smaller and narrower than the one used by Bill Warner. It also encloses the front wheel.

I've heard it's also about $2000. (correction - $4000 for the set, bschloop is correct)

I like the Vetter/Charly Perethian fairing from the 80's a lot - but it's really tiny. Very much the full-tuck riding style that Craig doesn't feel is practical except for winning mileage competitions.
