Lowest drag side mirrors

If it's drizzling a bit when I'm driving, which it should be, I'll try cracking the window down and see how that changes the movement of the airflow on the window.

Mirrors - Carbon Fiber

I learned that mirrors can really change the look of a sportbike after adding aftermarket mirrors to my ole FJ1200. To this day, I still get emails requesting where I found them, that answer was simply the local dealer.

These days, we have eBay, and the shape of these mirrors caught my eye. They're slightly wider, have a very thin stalk (replacing the fatty looking original) and fit right to the original bolt pattern. The Carbon Fiber is more a painted-on faux finish than real, but they give the bike a fresh look, and most importantly are very stable at speed with minimal vibration in the mirrors.

Saw that a little while ago, I think it was on a Focus IIRC.

No idea what it does or doesn't do, but the only "excuse" I can think of for those things is aero..

Those are vortex generators that are supposed to reduce wind noise. They are on Honda Ridgelines, BMWs, and other cars that I can't think of right now. They are not everywhere, but they are out there.

I once saw a set that were custom made for a car, and they barely stuck out at all. They mounted THROUGH the door, and had a flat lense and a mirror and were able to give you the same view of the road that a normal mirror would give. They were super cool, and I haven't been able to find the web page again... Maybe someone else can find it! I would like to see them again. I don't know if you could purchase them, but I would guess they would be expensive, but super cool.

These new car models seem to start putting the mirrors again to door panel instead of a pillar corner and I believe the reason is lower drag coefficient. all the other new cars put the leg of the mirror as low as possible and thin as possible. So you would want your mirror to be as low as possible and leave the a pillar corner a gap for the air to flow nicely

I bougth to my touareg Opel corsa mirrors, which were really cheap about 30€ per piece online.
I am hoping to see a 0,015 drag drop in my touareg which has huge mirrors at the moment.

One motivator I believe to door mounting is reducing the aeroacoustic noise. Here's a video on the Ford Mustang where they discuss just that:

The aerodynamicist in the video implicate the purpose of moving the mirror to the door is to limit the interaction between the vortex coming off of the mirror and the side window. You'd have to think there are drag (reduction) implications there too?

Subaru was able to kill this effect by moving their mirrors out to 80mm from the side glass.Tesla's are using this,along with the now defunct,2nd-gen Volt,and Jaguar and Aston Martin.
The 1998 Porsche GT1 has the lowest drag mirrors you're likely to see.
