Cool New Hyper miling challenge: 2016 TDI Toureg

I have finally found one of the last new 2016 TDI VW Touregs!
Now that I have this beast, I'll put it to the test to see what kind of mpg I can squeeze out of it...
I hope to get through some milestones soon, such as the first 700, 800 or even 900 mile tank. That works out to well over 40mpg for a 6000 pound 4X4 truck with enough torque to pull a small continent...

We'll see! I'll post my progress here.

I'd be quite surprised to see a Toureg hit 40mpg, though quite pleasantly so.

Good luck to you!

Someone was able to get 40 MPG out of a Chevy Caprice, which is quite a tank, by installing an insanely tall-geared transmission. With the torque of the diesel you could probably do something similar if you wanted to hit 40 MPG.

I doubt regearing a new Toureg is economically viable, if it is even possible. Taller tires down the road, maybe.

Imho a toerag is basically a golf raised about 10 inches. Want 40? Aerodynamic solutions, and a mileage tune and you should be at 50 easy.
