New Member 07 Civic

Hi,

I have been lurking around for a while here. I have been able to bump up my mpg quite a bit thanks to everyones advice. I am planning on installing a scan gauge, a warm air intake, and some grill blocking. I have also been thinking of modifying my trunk lid to run parallel to my rear windshield. Any input on this?

I dunno if a WAI will get you much, esp. if what I hear about the newer civics having direct injection is true.

If your car has DI, then the motor shouldn't have much restriction/pumping losses generated by the throttle body, so a WAI wouldn't be too useful (in theory)

But then again it's only theory untill someone tests it
And a WAI only involves a few $ worth of aluminum venting, so no big loss if it doesn't work.

Hello and welcome to the site. Nice car you got there, what kind of mileage are you getting now? I'd recommend starting a mileage log here. I see you already entered your car into the garage.

I still think the WAI is worth trying. I'm not sure why DI would change the fact that you still need more throttle to get the same mass of air through the engine. It won't help with atomization as much as it would if the injectors were in the head or manifold, but I don't think that is one of the main benefits anyways. Definitly keep us up to date on your progress.

Thanks for the replies and advice. Right now I am getting 40mpg. This is about 75% highway 25% city. The car is rated at 30/38, so I feel like I am doing a decent job thus far. Since I made a conscious effort to conserve fuel I bumped my mpg up about 7 mpg to where it is now.

I'll try to do some photoshop work of what I have planned.

That's really great. I'm sure you'll do a lot better in a couple of weeks. I've got an automatic with lower epa estimates, so you should be able to reach the high 40's, at least. Every time my wife gets in my car she says something like "You've got 250 miles on your trip meter and you've only used half a tank? That doesn't make sense!"

I get that all the time :-) My fuel gauge begins to move at 150 miles I call all of my friends every time I buy fuel now as well, they all tell me that they "Hate Me", "you Suck" or whatever (jealous); It is actually the highlight of my month (3.5~4 weeks to a tank).
