Question about your big rims: has your overall outside tire diameter changed from stock? If so, how much and are you correcting your fuel consumption calculations to account for it? If your outside diameter increased, your odometer will be under-reporting distance, making your MPG calculations appear worse than they really are.

believe it or not the 18" wheels that I have are a smaller diameter than stock (17"). Due to the smaller rubber band tires(225/40/18) its 3% smaller in over all diameter.
Once i upgrade the tires to (235/45/18) I should be within 1% difference to the stock setups in the winter. My main gripe with them are the weight, I can imagine the weight difference is.. more than the diameter in this case.

Once i fix my rear brake issue, I am going to get into the rear diffuser.

I just hope my dreams of 28-30 MPG is possible one day.

By the way I am driving right now I dont see how I can get it much better from the 24.9 MPG right now.

I dont know how I missed this. I have a special place in my heart for Maximas.I had a 97 man trans, and gained some mpg from lowering the car 1" all around. This lowers frontal area and reduces drag. After that I got my best hiway mpg of 31. I also had a Stillen body kit, and no spoiler. I also ran premium fuel when I put 87 in it I typically lost 2-3 mpg.
Found the curb weight on msn cars, 3218 and width 70.3 height 56.3 subtract 1.4" 54.9".

I agree they are great cars, I am lowered 1.4" all around

i should search for this on here but I always thought octane doesn't effect mpg as long as it doesnt make your engine ping (retard the timing so much it pings).

Just my experiance my Maxima, Altima, and Celica were/ are sensitive to premium where my F150, Suburban, Prism, Towncar were not. I think it depends on the car, the only way to know for sure is to test it.

I switched to Premium 93 ocatane, and fixed my rear dragging brakes.

Went on highway trip with 25% mixed city driving for vacation and its not exact but conservative numbers are 27.6 MPG.! Which feels really good to see. 28 MPG seems really close! I just finished installing a rear diffuser and hope to see some results soon. just have to drive

an update during sept 12'
I reached 28.18 MPG on a trip to the mountains loaded with 3 people and AC on!
i dont know how but... i guess the rear diffuser, windows up, and cruise control speed helped.

now on to the winter blues....

what a great way to head into the cold season! congrats!!!!

Most of the trips I logged across country )Sato ca to DaLLAS tX) WERE WITH A loaded CAR. (clothes and stuff)
I really think that if just me, I could have gotten 33+. (driving 60mph)
and I always left the a/c on 'auto'.

Thanks buddy, It feels good to reach a goal. Hopefully next summer I can reach 30 MPG like u. Sometimes i switch from auto to econ, it obviously gets hotter but sometimes is bareable espcially when ur moving and can get the fresh air that you are driving thru. Sit and go traffic econ is horrible. I ususally switch back and forth from auto to econ.
I think we have the same nissan ACC Automatic Climate Control unit.

(update: I also read in my nissan manual that when set on auto 80 deg is the most effecient according to them)
Which on a really hot summer day if you set auto to 80 it still is cold... i thought that was interesting.

Remeber, I went up to 245/50/18, about 6% over stock.
Also, I was around 1850rpms. I think you in the low 2000?
