I made about an N99.9 house air filter, it actually stops smoke particles.

We did this for Mom & Dad's place in Lubbock, Texas. Only 'filtered' air could get in, while subtle pressurization of the house prevented any and all infiltration.
My brother's place in Carson City has basically the same setup, except, he uses an electrostatic- precipitator to ionize and capture the smoke particles.

We had;
Pandemic beginning of 2020
Fire for a week of Sept of 2020
Ice and a week without power Feb 2021. Had to fix my fence.
Wind storm Nov 2021. Had to fix my fence again.
So far 2022 has been decent


... I put whatever are the cheapest filters I can find in the HVAC system. It only runs when we need heat or AC. During the fire week, I ran the air handler continuously to provide some filtration. Probably should have sought out better filters, but based on what they looked like when I replaced them, seems they did some good.

That could be an overpressure fan; with an air conditioner set to recirculate. [Could it not?]

I got 6ea 14x14x1 filters for Corona-chan, but they came in handy for the 2020 election-cycle firestorm. I've gone through four of them so far.

Yeah use the cheap filters in hvac, need to keep that air volume up.

A DIY air filter is pretty easy to make - you just need a box fan and a Merv 13 or higher filter. They worked pretty good for us back in 2020 once we returned from the coast. (It took me forever to find a MERV 13 filter though)

Nope won't work. A box fan barely develops any pressure differential, it works great with cheap filter that you can see through to pull big chunky dust out of the air. But put a merv13 on there and nearly no air moves. I use 2 bathroom fans to pull through 24x24 merv16 filters, the bathroom fans pull air through those filter like they aren't even there.

The most difficult part about building your own home air filter is knowing that a box fan can't pull hardly any air through a number 13 or higher filter.

I say they are full of it.
Difference here is, I actually tested it.
Their test used "fine black carbon" not smoke. Big difference between "fine black carbon" and smoke that has drifted for miles.
Also I noticed there wasn't a control so this doesn't appear to be scientific at all. So for all we know the "fine black carbon" could also be settling out all on its own.
And now I proved they are full of it.
Remember the same government said all the koof vaccines were safe and to run out get the jab don't worry about side effects, if you had a bad reaction or maybe allergic to it, that's because you're a racist anti science bigot.
