Sorry you take advice and information with such a hypersensitive attitude.

No reason to be so defensive and sarcastic.

I doubt anybody minds you using any tires you may choose.

No sarcasm meant. Just the truth that used tires are wonderful. I haven't even mentioned the environmental advantage of driving on used tires, that would be in tire dumps already, as well as NOT buying unnecessary new tires.
Its nice to know that rich people complain, when poorer people find ways to survive. Oh, oh! THAT may be sarcasm..... but maybe NOT..... since it is the truth.

Litesong---Let it go. They're just used tires.

Update: Just filled up and mpg is up to 25 with the new tires. They feel much better than when freshly mounted. I never really noticed any tire break in on other vehicles, but this is very pronounced. My truck tires did improve a bit over the first few weeks, but I didn't really notice, maybe because I was always running around with several tons of firewood on it.

I drove around a farm today and it was wet, muddy clay. No traction problems, even on the hills.

I'm sorry to hear that you had problems with used tires. I've been really lucky. All my used over-sized tires have been great. Matter of fact, our small Hyundai Accent, with used over-sized tires, absorbs bumps BETTER than our LARGER Elantra, with new, but standard, smaller sized tires.

The other day, put someone's spare over-sized BF Goodrich tire ($10) that was never even mounted, on one of my cars.....just wonderful. Might last as long as 60-70,000 miles. Within days, I may be getting one to three more used tires with very few, if any miles, for $10 a piece. They'll go well with my FREE used tires.

Because the tires were cheap & used, they gave me the capability to test many over-sized tires, & discover the excellent benefits of large tires.

But, you're right. They're just used tires.

Litesong. DROP IT. Didn't start this thread to hear you banterabout used tires.

Mods, feel free to delete this thread. It's past it's prime.

Took the Accent for a 600 mile jaunt the other day. The car, with 154,000+ miles, traveled over two 4000+ foot mtn. passes & two 2600 & 2800(?) foot plateaus, gained 43MPG on one tank & maybe 41MPG on a partial tank, with temperatures between 31 & 54 degF. Generally, the Accent is used for local travel. But, the over-sized tires have made the Accent, highway worthy. The Accent isn't ideal as a long-ranger, but it is very tolerable. The Accent ride helped my bad back, giving no problems in the long drive. The 4 tires, costing $51.50, were excellent, which otherwise would have been in a tire dump. Three of the four tires on the Accent were....... made in the U.S.A.!
