For those of you with the Volt and Leaf, have you driven it enough to tell if people react the same as if you drive a hybrid and whip around you on the road?

Priuses pass me all the time.

NeilBlanchard -- What would your wife think if the (blind/oblivious) pedestrian warning was the opening chords of Sweet Child Of Mine?

The VSP pedestrian warning sound, as far as I can tel, has it's speaker in or around the driver's front wheel well. I have asked the service guy at the dealer to check into it for me - he had no idea that the Leaf even made a noise. It apparently is modulated and works up to ~18MPH. Above that, there is just the faintest gear whine audible in the car, if you are driving with the stereo off.

My spouse seems to be settling in to around 120MPGe / 280Wh/mile on her commute. She drives with the headlights at night, and so far with virtually no cabin heat or seat heat needed.

I am hoping our JuiceBox arrives ahead of schedule (about 3 weeks from when I ordered it) and I will have to figure out about wiring it in. Having much shorter charge times will allow the car to be used a lot more.

Posted the worst energy efficiency number this morning. We had a stormy night, and my spouse had to use the HVAC some.

By the way, our Leaf does not have a spare tire; but rather it has an electric air pump that you attach a (pint?) bottle of white fluid to, and then it pushes that sealant fluid into the tire and then inflates it. If you have a blowout, or a hole is too big for the fluid to work on, then you have to call someone.

It is a 6.6kW. The stock EVSE is just 120V ~12A - so 1.2kW?

Edit: only the base Leaf S has the old 3.3kW charger. Ours has the optional 6.6kW, that comes standard in the mid and top level Leafs.

Yeah, thats pretty standard now. I believe midway through the run of the 2nd gen insight they did the same thing. All the non US ones didnt come with a spare.

I am driving Forest today, and I am using my GPS to check the odometer. So far, the odometer is registering 13.4 miles, while the GPS is reading only 13.1. Which doesn't bode well for the odo's accuracy. I will keep it going all day, but that could mean the odometer is 1.5-2% over reporting.

Which drops the efficiency a bit.

Also, a more problematic issue has become all too obvious: the windshield is leaking water at the top center. Apparently, there have been a few similar issues with 2014 Leafs. The dealer will be looking at it Monday. Apparently the fix - resealing the windshield - takes only ~20 minutes.

Is it just the odometer, or the speedometer too?

It's not uncommon for factory speedos to read high.

Given the computerization of modern cars I'd expect them to be in lockstep; IOW if one is off so is the other.

Honda was successfully sued in a class action a few years ago for odos reading high (reporting more miles than actually driven); it was supposedly being done to shorten warranty coverage.
