Engineering Explained tried out a Leaf for six months

Nissan lent Jason the vehicle, he called it boring, and complained that every single time that he plugged in his iPhone he needed to disconnect and reconnect it. However, living with an electric car, he decided to purchase one, although he did not seem to consider a Leaf:



He also seemed to indicate that a top-of-the-line Civic was boring, too.

An Si? Why do people who can afford Cadillacs (and more expensive vehicles) review entry-level cars?

He revealed today that he bought a new Model 3. During the driving portion of the video he says something about it being a bit boring to drive too.

I think he is trying to convey that it doesn’t make all the vroom vroom, shift bang noises that most people are used too in “exciting” cars that typical car enthusiasts enjoy.

He said the Leaf was faster up to 50 MPH than his S2000. I watched a video of a Porsche eventually passing a Tesla S, but that was above 100 MPH. So, they are fun to accelerate, but fail to sing the song of their people--or their people are just quieter than we like.

That's not the proper takeaway from that video. His main point is that for most households with more than 1 vehicle, one of them should be an EV. He went on to explain why multi-vehicle families should own an EV.

Nissan dropped the ball in several ways. They were first to make widely available EVs by a long shot, but still don't offer one with a 200 mile range. Their competition passed them by even though they had an enormous head start. 2nd, they still don't have active thermal management despite it having proven a bad decision in the gen I. Finally, EVs are easily capable of outperforming their ICE counterparts, and the fact that the gen II Leaf only has about average acceleration is inexcusable.
