This I would try. Seems to have enough validity behind it to involve lawyers.
I have CO2 on tap from my welder and I am licensed to buy R-404a.
Like I said yesterday, it would be a lot cheaper than helium and leak out slower too.
Main intrest would be in filling trailer and truck tires, not so much little car tires, since I have had a heat related tire failure or 2 on the suburban.

I did some searchig around. Found the stayfill site.
I believe they are selling over priced fluorocarbon.
But they claim CO2 leaks out at a nearly catastrophic rate. Which seems doubt full that it could be that much worse than air.
Guess some one should test it.
ok I will.

Lets see if this unicorn can give birth.
CO2 is on tap and I filled a tire with it a day or 2 after my last post and guess what, a radial tire holds it just fine.
Now for next phase. Through a series of horse trades I was able to get 7lb of R-404a.
Since I dont know if this will deliver any measureable results I didnt want to flush money down the toilet at the rate of $20lb, so I traded stuff I didnt have a use for to get it.
Look for it in general efficiency, you will know it when you see it.

I would like to find a way to fill a tire with a durable dense memory type of foam.
There must be a super foam of sorts that would work.

Long ago my dad found a bicycle inner tube that was filled with just that sort of thing. I freaking hated it. It was heavy and rode like poo.

Problem with the foam is I think it could build up too much heat in a highway driven tire.
It might work for a car.
I agree the foam is going to have a lot more mass than any gas.

It would need to be a very dense foam, equal to say 50 psi for me ( I like the rough ride)
The foam probably would get quite hot from the tire and retain it, I bet this avenue has been researched by the foam/chemical companies.

The flexible air-less wheel they designed some years ago would be a better direction to follow and more suitable to the 21'st century then my foam fill idea..

My Stepfather uses a white powder(I think it's powdered lead) in his 4x4 lawn tractors wheels for traction.
What kind of foam is in your friends tractors tires ?

QUOTE oil pan - I was able to get 7lb of R-404a -

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You have a good amount !
Speaking of heat
Won't the heat generated by the tire raise the psi of the R404a quickly ?
