I do that with my diesel and tractor. Replace some of the diesel with vegetable oil.

The misinformation in car forums is just about universal, and people all tend to have the same "gotta pay to play" attitude unless you're in a Hyundai Accent forum. It was slightly better offroad than the Subaru Legacy (2.2L manual) I had that got 30 MPG, but only due to better ground clearance and a low range gearbox.

On my Subaru LGT forum there was overlap, too. It was 80% "that's stupid" and 30% You're making this up." General laughter when I pointed out that I was getting performance out of my car by driving it that they couldn't get out of theirs.

I’ve been “an obvious liar” on Dodge one ton truck forums for ten years. Wacky tabacky-ville . My calendar average is higher than their best highway mpg. Hell, I tow my 35’ travel trailer at their calendar average.

It’s not the vehicle. It’s not the driver. It’s the total annual miles that sticks out most. None, or next to none are willing to reduce that. Including around here.

That, and a fully enclosed garage granting longest life, kills much of the paper argument about specific mpg.

Prior to cell phones, my life alternated between seeing something cool and wishing I had a camera, and tedious periods where I carried a camera, but nothing happened.

Has anyone else seen an animal that large in a neighborhood? It was next to the sidewalk when I passed, but I stopped and walked back to take the picture.

Hitting these guys is deleterious to fuel economy! So is hitting Lamborghinis!

We get animals that size all the time, to the point where "oh, yeah, I missed a deer this morning" might get mentioned at dinner.

Were the two cars in that photo competing for "least aerodynamic?"
