Chrysler cars in the '90s and early 2000s were not so usual here

It is safe to say your dog does not like that neon enough to even pee on it.

Neon, eco-car? Had one, must disagree about that.

They took less metal to make than most cars. Their ATs also used fewer gears: every 3 speed Neon freed up room for the 9 speed transmissions of today.

IIRC the 2nd generation didn't have the 3-speed automatic transmission in Brazil, only the 4-speed automatic, even though some came with the 5-speed manual.

Correct. And also 2nd gen has that "manual shifting" -feature. My neon was 1st gen. Comfy car, not too bad otherwise but that transmission seemed to eat up all the power.

That transmission had also been available for a while in the 2nd generation, but I have never seen one with it. And most of the 1st-gen ones I've seen were manuals anyway. One thing I like about the Neon, believe it or not, is its design which somewhat reminds me the VW Beetle.

My son hated the Neon on first sight. I always suspected the headlights reminded him of the cars he rode around in when he was little. Which made me sad.

That is sad. My mom has a '75 Beetle. We loved it. Always loved Beetles (the original Herbie movies and all... punch buggies). My younger brother owned two, years later (a 1960 and a 1962, one of 'em Wolfsburg). I always loved the Neon front end because of the retro look of the lights. There was a C-class Mercedes in the 00s that had a similar headlight shape. Loved that look too, and I almost never like Mercedes.

I must confess I'm not so fond on its engine.
