CAN hardware is $0.95 I think. Just a resistor and capacitor and a $0.90 chip. YOu don't have to include it though. Sorry, I've been really busy lately with my job. If anyone wants to donate a million dollars so I can quit, I'll name my next child after you. haha

I don't know how to post a link to a Youtube video without embedding it, and I'm not sure it's on topic; but some might be interested in seeing the innards of a Tesla power inverter.

EVTV Friday Show - April 28, 2017. Tesla Drive Unit - Inside the Inverter

Colin Kidder does the teardown from 1:41:48 to 2:02:18.

At 1:32:48 they show a Tesla drivetrain in a Lotus Evora putting 460hp into a $75K dynamometer. Must be nice.

Here it is. It was exciting to watch.

https://youtu.be/VZVQIeW1xP4?t=1h41m48s

Do you really get away with that few capacitors on three phase motor controller? Seems they are using TO-247 IGBTs. I saw 7 IGBTs but there must be 7 more hidden there. At 1000 amps it would be over 70 amps per IGBT.

Now to see how much those IGBTs are I haven't even gotten into populating the control board yet but would like to end up with a 500A controller that eats 200VDC.

Getting closer to starting my converted IMA + Paul's controller board. Have my O-scope and signal generator at my house in CR. Have a crate on the way with the e-assist alternator and Honda IMA inverter along with a lot of other goodies inside.

Now, is there anyone that can verify a complete and UP TO DATE parts list to populate Paul's circuit board, and, is there anyone that can provide the programmed chip? I might be able to build the board up, but, have no desire to try the coding right now. There is so much info on this thread that I am not certain what is really up to date and where to source the required components.

I kept hoping someone would do a kit form of this board with all components, etc. Looks like a long journey for a non electronics experienced person to attempt, but, severely limited funds forces this endeavour to be pursued.

I'm hoping for lots of help-input to make this project workable. Everything will be posted on my controller mods thread in this fossil fuel free forum.

I started following this thread specifically because I like the logo and I want to put it in the back window of my car:

However, I notice the Wiki hasn't been updated

Could some authori-tay figure help with that?

I would just like to say that I have no idea how to edit the wiki. But this is the latest AC code:
hub.com/MPaulHolmes/AC-Controller
And you can email me at pandspowerelectronics@gmail.com to get all the files I have. I'm just busy right now with 2 separate jobs. My wife's copaxone is $2250/month starting in a couple months (after the insurance pays $9200, that's our "copay" lol), so we are saving up just in case we can't get extra financial help from the copaxone company. More fun than a barrel of monkeys! haha.

I tried to extract the relevant information from the Toyota MGR thread using the Mac OSX Summarize Text service; but I only got six pages in.

There must be a way to query the vBulletin back end and get a thread as a single block without the metadata; I haven't made much headway in Forum News & Feedback.

Summarize Text would ingest that in one gulp.

I have an older generation (no surface mount) controller. Since it's been a while since I've had a chance to play, I tried to update the flash with newer code located here:

https://github.com/MPaulHolmes/AC-Controller/branches

Seems like some of the pins have been changed and added. I'm planning to buy a new version board eventually but would like to get the latest version for this board.

Do you guys know where I can get this?

What version do you have? Actually, I'm not sure which version I have either ... so do you have a picture of the board?

I have several firmware upgrades that I loaded as my testing uncovered bugs and Paul released some new features, like save and putting the tests into the same firmware as the running controller code.

I have a few of the source files matched with the firmware.

i think I have serial number 2, so it may be too old to be of use to you. But we can try!
