Sweet - looks like an ambient temp of around 15 or 20C? Where is your thermistor located relative to the IGBTs?

I'm curious because I have 3 of those IGBTs that adam found. Someday I'll find the time to put a power section together with them and would like an idea of how they'll perform.

Joe,

Hes not using those igbt's that you have yet. These are 1000A single pack ones that hes using. 1 for switch, and 1 for diode.

Ya, i knew that... but it's still a different package and power stage arrangement...

Jack did you post a schematic for that igbt arrangement somewhere?

Thermistor is about one inch below the switch device at about mid way. Heatsink is a 250mm square of 12mm thick aluminium. 120mm fan sucks air through the enclosure. Ambient was about 12-13c today. Warmest day yet this year! Dave i posted a little description of the drive system i used for the igbts a few pages back. Very simple stuff but seems to be working a charm.

Thank you Weisheimer .Now i am wandering what mosfets can I use for a low voltage controller for 12volt 100amp. Those Igbt-s that i am using BUP314 are 1200volt 52 amps but they has very high resistance between collector-emitter can you recommend me some good mosfets for low voltage and high amps.

pp:Here in Bulgaria Irf540 and Irf640 has very low cost four euro for 10 mosfets but i must use many of them for 100amp current.

LOL I remember now it was this "complex" circuit:

Hi Everyone
I have put a control board together. When I turn the power on the green light comes on but not the yellow one. I tried repowering with the pot all the way the other direction ,no change. So I took the board out and looked for problems. I found 5 resistors with the wrong ohm readings. I removed R13 and replaced it was reading 5.xx K should be 10K. I checked the new one 10K. Put it in but before I soldered it I checked the ohm's and it read 5.xxK ohm's. I took it back out and it reads 10K. Also the 5K pot reads 4.96K until I plug it into the board then it reads 3.9xK . The chip I am using has the old software (the yellow light should blink when it is ok). Where should I look for this problem? Any help sure would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Alvin
PS
I had D4 and D5 reversed, I marked the package wrong. So I rechecked the parts list to see if I had marked something else wrong. That did not fix it. But there is a part marked XX a diode, where does that go?

Hi Alvin! Once a resistor is soldered in, you can't tell what the resistance is, since you are actually measuring the interaction of a bunch of resistors that are all electrically connected.

The diode that's marked XX isn't needed. I used to add them to the bottom of the board to fix a problem that wasn't really a problem. Just ignore it. I should erase that.

The led isn't flashing... That's not good. It sounds like the software isn't running then. One possibility is a solder bridge? When too much solder crosses over the tiny little isolation ring. I would check all the pins of the atmega8. Maybe something is being shorted to ground?
