Took care of that link for you, bud. It's sound information. The link thing had to come because of spam accounts lately, and it's sort of an inconvenience, but it's for a good reason.

Also, excellent first post. Welcome to EM. Why not hit the introductions forum and tell us about yourself?

Thanks for the link fix
Hey Christ, thanks for fixing the link. I figured it was about catching random posts from spammers, so I didn't take it personally.
Thanks for the welcome. I'll just add a post to the "What's everyone's background?" topic.
*edit*: changed my mind and just added a thread to the introduction page
Chris

Could you do something like this with a Volkswagen New Beetle? What about with a New Beetle with an automatic transmission?

Oops, I never saw that message. I don't know if you could do that to a new beetle. Probably!
I did some force tests on the car today at 72v nominal...
18 mph constant speed in 1st gear on flat ground ----> 223 w*hr/mi
35 mph constant speed in 2nd gear on flat ground ----> 250 w*hr/mi
This is with the tires inflated to around 29-30 psi. That's better than I thought it would be!
The 1000amp controller monitors voltage, so I did the following:
batteryAmps = pwmDuty * motorAmps
Force = PackVoltage * batteryAmps / speedOfCar
This thread brings back the good old days. Oprah is ugly. hahaha

I want one.
How is the car doing and what do you have in store for us next?

Finish a conversion!?!? Does that happen?
I don't think I am ever going to be "finished"!
Paul, same with you?
PS - I went for a ride in Paul's car a while back. It was really nice. It was like a "real" car. The only thing weird about it were the seat belts, but that was because it's so old, not because it's an electric!

Ya, it's not "done". hehe. I'm back to no controller again, so I need to make one. So it's really not done. I'm almost done with the boards for a new 1000amp controller, and the beta will go in there.

Um.... when you are done beta testing the 1000-amp controller at 72V, if you need someone to test it at higher voltages, just let me know......

If this one doesn't work, I'm going to friggen wig out, and go on a gardening spree. People always get so violent when they wig out, so I'm going to keep it peaceful.
