She should be smart enough to self-employ.

My car is easier to keep running than a later carburated car. CEL? Short out the diagnostic pins and read the code from the blinking CEL. Driveability issue? Put it in test mode and see if it throws a CEL. No CEL yet? Tap the oxygen sensor pins on the diagnostic port and duct tape the meter to the windshield right next to the vacuum gauge. I can also get data output from the ECU with a $3 cable, a bit of soldering, a piece of software I posted in the instrumentation section, and a laptop made after 2000. Dead fuel pump? Pull the back seat, access the pump from above the tank. Fuel filter? Bolted to the fire wall right next to the brake booster and the superfluous power-steering rack. Injectors? $130 is a bit pricy, but cheaper than a melted down catalyst.

Ah-h-h-h, but there's a huge LEGAL difference between procreational and recreational employments.

A person who doesn't own a car or need one... who uses the barest minimum transportation possible... like public transport, a bicycle or a motorcycle, doesn't have to spend on a garage. It's only people who need to travel a huge number of miles a day (say... home service providers, contractors, taxi drivers) who will see a big benefit from car ownership.

Eating, however, everyone needs to do.

She's arrived at the same conclusion and has spent the better part of this year on building a business - indoor farming ( not the kind you're thinking about ) - she grows various feed insects for domestic reptiles & apparently demand is greater than her capacity to produce; so she's putting those other skills to use building a larger farm.

My point though, in the context of this thread - my sister is a woman who can and does do traditionally "masculine" things like repair cars and doesn't look like Rosie O'Donnel in the process. Same could be said for my s/o, she worked with me every step of the way bringing the 94 SHO back to life and she's handy with just about every woodwork tool there is..

Girlie girls who can't take care of their own property and manly men who can't cook, wash and sew... are seriously missing out on a *lot* of pride they could be experiencing in jobs well done.

All i will say about that is people who have the above skills in "traditional" aspects of both gender roles are more appealing to the opposite sex.

And men appreciate women who understand that the lights on the dash can be important.
