I saw that. No burn-out.

It does show the interior. I like the door bins and braided rope door pull.

Rewatched it. 'Aerospace materials' ≠ [suprise] monocoque.

He's a lucky guy but he needs to pick a lane.

I was trying to make a joke.

It looked to be a stretch about 1/2 mile long shown over and over.

What did you think of the VW engine, with the side-exit distributor cap?

Everything about that car is cool as hell. It looked to me like the shroud was aluminum? I like the skinny tires, 4 wheel drums, 4 wheel skirts... everything. I didn't notice the dizzy cap.

These guys apparently agree. They made their own.

https://bangshift.com/general-news/p...lina-vfw-hall/

They went with a black finish that's better than the originals ever were.

Someone should reproduce the topless rat-rodded one.
Quote:
Three cars were made in hand shaped aluminium by the bodywork company Reutter. One was destroyed early in World War II. The two remaining were used by the Porsche family. Eventually they only used one of them and put the other in storage. In May 1945 American troops discovered the one put in storage, cut the roof off and used it for joyriding for a few weeks until the engine gave up and it was scrapped. The last remaining Porsche 64 was owned by Ferry Porsche who had it restored by Battista Farina in 1947. In 1949 it was sold to the Austrian motorcycle racer Otto Mathé and with it he won the Alpine Rally in 1950. The last time he drove it in a race was at the Monterey Historic Races in Monterey, California, in 1982.
So the one in the video was refreshed in 1947.
