You made that seat or bought it? It looks like it might hurt to sit in for a long time.

I bought it, it's for lotus, 4.4kg. Maybe if folks do long trips aerodynamics is a better field and leaves option for comfort but I only do 10 mins here and there so I focus on mass. I used to have a work van that was far more uncomfortable and only got 22mpg on a good day... Today seat got a new sticker...even though I am really too old for stickers

Also I made a couple of 10g supports for the centre inside the bumper. I was going to make a half moon beam last week but ran out of time so these will do
My carbon work is getting visibly more attractive too, there are lots of small non structural brackets left to make. I will start buying spare doors next month so I won't have to take time off work.

And buy pva for my moulds!! thanks for advice

Hey folks, was just messing tonight, replaced some non structural m6 with aluminium, sensor brackets etc and found another 1kg weight in the boot Can't believe I've been carrying that for 6 years!!! It will open and close better as it only has one strut

Also some brackets I replaced with glass

7.16lb=1bhp....I mean tonights 2kg = 1/7 mpg!!....

For my car...

Edit..the purpose of this exercise is not to beat new amg's with a 20 year old prius but to slow the use of fossil fuels for everyones benefit..

Subscribed. No troubles with MOT? This radical weight reduction would not go over very well in some parts of the world.

MOT is about safety not modifications and my guy likes it. I did a few extra bits tonight, there are more steel brackets to make next month. I think ceramic disks and new wheels will be good next year. Wheels with double offset spokes made with chopped strand carbon could even be 50% less than aluminum (in my case at least)

For my prius at least I think the way I drive and in warmer months it is compounded so more than to the power of four, like maybe 6, it's positively not linear.

Don't think I will get to do any more major changes until next spring, wheels would be a nice winter project. If I could get one thats not sided it would be alot easier and only need to buy one origional piece

Making a new trestle stand area, not quite vehicle related but on days it gets used the car will be 4.5kg lighter. Easier to use as well. Replaced aluminium and plywood with woven roving

A buddy of mine's company makes 3d printers. They have a new model they are beta testing that prints carbon fiber. You'd love such a printer, I would bet. You'd put it to some use!

BTW, how does 7.6 US pounds equal 1bhp? That seems too optimistic, no?

To refine and have it stable with nylon it is formed at 2200c, but once this printer, it is successfully produced and tested with the 3500mpa, yes I will buy one.
It's not optimistic, it is a law. It was in some white papers I read some time ago although it's not exactly what's needed here

If it is a law, then this comment will reveal my ignorance: if 7.6 lbs consumes 1bhp then how does my 106 hp engine propel my 2100 lb car? See what I mean? Clearly, I don't understand something here ....
