I am not sure is this egg-car is aerodynamic or not as the devil is in the details regarding the rear wheels and any undercarriage or suspension. If I recall Aerohead's dirigible/blimp diagrams it's shape is way better than a sphere or wheel/cylinder in any case.

Some modifications to the Goldfish and it could be made aerodynamic I suspect. Remove the tail and sunglasses for starters.

After the wing was torn off, most probably.

As a teen I built a plastic model of the "Spirit of 76" dragster, it kind of looks like a condensed version of that.

From the reading some of the wedge designs go back to 1971, added weight was an issue but it was from the chassis not the extra bodywork for Prudhomme's car.

I see Thom Taylor is still with Hot Rod as of 2016. They have 42 illustrations I'll have to go through.
