I'll be happy to pass in complete obscurity. I've had a pretty interesting ride,on the shoulders of the masters. I feel a responsibility to stand up for them,as they're not around to defend their legacy. Least I can do.

Aerohead posts:

The usual mix of invalid premises, irrelevant citations, red herrings and gobbledygook jargon, all underpinned by the apparent belief that no new knowledge in car aerodynamics has developed in about the last 30 years.

For anyone who actually wants to learn something about lift and drag, see my thread of that name.

And a fine how do you do,to you too! Glad you rested well last night.Your in fine form.
I love your debate skills of a three-year-old.
After you finish with Fachsenfeld,Hoerner, and Schlicting,we can put on the big-boy pants and talk science.
Your family physician must marvel at all the scar-tissue you've accumulated over the years; from all the a---whippings you received from perfect strangers you disrespected with that loose tongue of yours.
If it's a clinical condition we can make allowances.Otherwise, get back on your meds. You're walking a knife edge.
PS If you're going to use every post as an infomercial for your books, how about a little info.Spoken in your own words,so we know you comprehend the citations you list.

Oh so I'm not the only one who sees it?
That's literally what happened on the post that got locked.

Wow, what happened!

Hold on a minute everyone

To continue on topic: I have made a mock up extension of the small spoiler and I think I am going with large side pieces both for structural integrity and drag reduction

*photos tomorrow*

I am also going to tuft test my original spoiler to see what these holes are for

To anyone who has subscribed to this topic and still follows the subject:

Please a little patience

Ford Bi-wing spoiler

I failed to locate the 3-ring binder with the patents. It's MIA. From other notes, are some data.
* The bi-wing made its debut on the 1983 Ford Probe-III concept car, Cd 0.22.
*The Ford Sierra XR4 and Merkur XR4Ti were inspired by the Probe-III, however lacked the full suite of aero tricks embodied on Probe-III.
*All three cars share a 26.5-degree aeroback backlight angle, which according to Mair and Buchheim research, cannot support an attached turbulent boundary layer.
*The bi-wing alters the angle to 18-degrees, allowing flow re-attachment before leaving the upper surface of the body, essentially cancelling the rear lift.
*A smoke-flow image of the Probe clearly shows the flow separation at the backlight header, then flow over the bi-wing,which extends as far as the end of the car's bumper.
*There's also a photo of a Scorpio,2-door,with the bi-wing,doing the same thing.
*The bi-wing is credited with dropping the drag from Cd 0.34, to Cd 0.32.
*In the April,1983 issue of Popular Mechanics, page 82, Rich Taylor wrote, ' [U]nlike some cars with ultra-aero bodies, the Sierra is not disturbed by side winds or high speeds. I saw a genuine 193 Km/hr ( 120 mph ) on the rain-swept Autobahn to Frankfurt, and the Sierra felt as stable as a Pinto sitting in your driveway.'
*If the binder ever shows itself I'll re-visit this topic.
