Thanks for the responses. I was more interested if there had actually been an acknowledgement from a scientific study about how "creating" water could be affecting our weather/whatever.

I realize there are a lot more pressing issues to take care of and that if the ocean rises a couple feet in the next 100 years, we're humans, we'll adapt.

I think your physics are a little off. Yes the ground would rise as the load is lifted, but how much? Can you quantify that? If not, then how can you possibly say that it matters? Even if a 1 cubic mile glacier melted and the ground under it raised 50ft, it displaced AIR, not WATER. Unlike water, dirt is compressible.

Its not hardly that simple, the displacement of land upwards is minimal compared to the ice, also the density of the land underneath is not equal to the water, also molten iron (fudge) does not operate like water, also if land moves upward other land bodies need to move downward.

And I can go on, we are talking non-ideal non-linear behaviors that can take hundreds of years to react to something up top in almost the way you think.

So you = FAIL.

1) Rock is about 2.5 times as dense as water: Common Rock Densities Assuming that your claim of the rock rising was correct, and the rise was immediate in human terms (which it's not: much of the northeast is still rebounding from the weight of the last Ice Age's glaciers), the rebound would be only about 40% of the glacier volume.
