I've often thought covering the SG with a second dash top pod from a wreck would be the way to go. You could possibly also use something like a motorbike helmet, suitably cut down

The top of the Firefly's cluster is also very rounded, but the gauge is happy there with a single point of contact. And I'm still on my original 1-piece of velcro on the dash that came with my ScanGauge-1. The adhesive hasn't melted/slipped.*

Whatever velcro they include in the box with the Scangauge is amazing stuff. It stayed on top of my Civic's dash for ... 6-7 years intact. In Texas.

I bought some generic self-stick velcro for the Fit and it's not nearly as good. The adhesive gets soft and "oozes" sideways out of position.

I have it on the steering column just below the speedometer. The cable comes out to the right just below the dimmer knob. I have a block of foam under it to hold it up so it's visible, and velcro on the back to hold it against the panel. It's angled back a bit, but still visible and viewable.

IDK, we have as much sun as Texas and I don't have a problem with glare, overheating or adhesive letting go (my shielded GPS sometimes freezes when too hot by comparison). A shield would still be nice and could be as simple as a round plastic ice cream container, maybe covered in leather to give it an OEM 'grain' finish.

Very nice! Did you use SG as the mould or did you use another technique? Would you mind to share the knowledge?

here's my install on my 2013 Subaru WRX Sti

1) tape up the scangauge using painters tape
2) tape up the gague cluster shroud using painters tape
3) apply fiber glass resin
4) apply fiber glass (2-3 layers)
5) let dry
6) remove the hardened fiber glass
7) remove the scangauge
8) trim, sand, paint
9) i used double sided duct tape to attach the fiberglass to the gauge cluster shroud. It has held up for 2 years in So. Cal heat.
