I don't know of any cars in the 80s and 90s that sealed the hood-bumper cover gap; cars as late as my 2005 Civic didn't have any weatherstripping there. Today, nearly every car that's more expensive than a Mirage has some. From the lowly C-HR:

1979 Ford Falcon:
My R32 Skyline also has a seal, but it's attached to the underside of the bonnet and as such people don't tend to photograph them.
Except the Prius, the newest car I've had with a bonnet seal is the 89 Skyline.

This weekend I installed some weather stripping / gasket on the underside of the front lip on my hood. The gap is pretty large IMO and could use sealing up. I used some D-profile weather stripping from mcmaster carr for the job. Its a super wide/tall 1" by 1" piece. More info in my thread here:

Look at the 1996-2007 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable. Those use a sort of L shaped flap attached to the nose for the hood front edge to close against.
'Course those cars do have a much narrower gap there, and the headlights have no gap to the nose and fenders.
