Unfortunately for you, polls aren't elections. You will have to wait until the next election to unseat him.

Oh, wait... you don't even LIVE in Wisconsin. Maybe you'd like to go there to protest, like all the the other imported demonstrators.
That's your idea of a personal attack?!?!?

That you don't live in Wisconsin is a FACT. That you side with the protesters is a FACT. That there are imported demonstrators is a FACT. It was phrased as a rhetorical question.

Since you are so mortally offennnnnded by my pointing out those facts, I'll say you are acting like a crybaby who knows how to dish it out, but doesn't know how to take it.

Just because you scream "personal attack" doesn't make it one. To you, citing the facts = "attack".

Once again, the initial proposition of the topic was an overtly political one with a slanted poll, and it was permitted, right from the start. How could anyone expect the ensuing discussion not to be political? This is hardly the sole thread of an overtly political nature found on this list. The threat of silencing all discussion only comes after the Leftist opinions being voiced are shown to be vituperous. To silence everyone would be more in the spirit of a Nanny Statist than a Benevolent Dictator.

The problem here is that it's pretty difficult to discuss fuel economy, in anything but a strictly technical sense, without wandering into politics of some kind.

OK, if you'll explain to us why it is that the news media only publicize the pro-union demonstrators, when it's pretty obvious - looking at anything from polls to the posts here - that there's a sizeable chunk of the public that doesn't support the unions. (A chunk that's probably a majority, if you count the people who fall somewhere between the two extremes.)

So is free speech only worthy of being heard when it's the speech of a slogan-chanting mob? What about those who prefer to think & speak for ourselves, and so find that sort of group-speak repellent, even when it's used in support of a goal we might otherwise approve?

I guess people don't always read the fine print.

I am shocked at this revelation.
It will burn bright and then die. The best Internet village pumps have full and free arguments. Limit language otherwise let the bile run free.

"Best", like politics, is a matter of opinion.

EM's been growing pretty steadily for 3+ years with minimal political blather. If limiting political discussion has crimped the growth rate, I'm 100% fine with that.

darrell,
grow some nads......jezzz.
Pay attention children.......
The issue, mr straw man, is the 74% cost of the benefits that thcurrently the member pays NADA. the cost of the benefits is unsustsinable. period. And the union's own financial manager says the number is $56k. And why would your little brain say '<56,000' when you now say 46K. BUT again the issue is THE COLLECTIVE BARGINNING OF BENEFITS.
Not 'Collective Barginning'.

And all you idiots can say is 'pay $5 a yr".....Mimimum wage"......
why do you always swing to the extreme??????
How about 50% cost of benefits?
come on how about it.

Usually the political threads involve a lot of polarizing and derisive talk that only serves to divide the community. People generally are not good at filtering what they say or hear and such threads detract from the productive goals of the site, and leach off of constructive attempts, and thus demotivate many otherwise productive participants. Overall it is a net loss for ecomodder.

There's more than enough blather and froth on the net and places that enable it. I appreciate people feel strongly about this stuff, but y'all can cram it with walnuts anyway. Just my $0.02
