To put the Tesla negativity in perspective, there is another poster that refers to parents as breeders, and children as spawn, as if humanity is a blight that should be removed from the Earth. He's basically implied that my daughter has negative value (less than worthless). Doesn't matter to me though, that's just like, his opinion man. Plus, he doesn't get a say in what I buy or how many children I have, so no problem for me.

What I'm saying is that I've learned a lot from people with differing opinions, even from those that assert or imply clearly ludicrous things. JSH comments have been among the more enlightening ones.

He knows a lot about traditional car factories. He has all the right to communicate how he likes, and I exercise my right to ignore all of it.

Go in peace. May you one day buy a Tesla and it is everything you hoped it will be.

That is my experience as well. Nothing is learned in an echo chamber and having respectful conversations with people you disagree with makes a person reflect on why the believe what they believe. Sometimes I change my mind and sometimes I don’t. If nothing else the conversation is interesting.

Tesla: I'm sorry sir but the delivery time for the $35,000 Model 3 is 18 months. Would you like to order the Standard 3 Plus for only $39,500? We can deliver it is 2 weeks.

Customer: No thanks, I would like to order the $35,000 Model 3.

Tesla: OK, we will add you to the reservation list. That will be $2,500 and we will notify you when it is time to configure your car.

Then somehow you will never make it to the top of the list but Tesla will call every week or so to see if you would like to order the Standard Plus with a 2 week delivery.

Side Note: After visiting the Model 3 sales page to see if there is a number to call I've noticed you can order today for delivery in 2 weeks. What happened to all those reservations?
I'll bet you $40,000 I can order and receive the $35,000 Model 3 in less than 18 months.

Wake from the dead, thread!

As per Tesla's 4Q earnings call Musk officially confirmed that the Model Y:
- already entered production in Fremont
- will be delivered starting by the end of Q1
- will run off the same line as the Model 3, boosting Fremont's production capacity to 500,000 a year
- has a revised and improved EPA range of 315 miles!

That is sooner than expected. Even at the 3Q earnings call Musk indicated deliveries would start only during summer.

Hopefully this means the CT will come sooner rather than later, and that the semi is on track.

I like the new signature line... I feel that often not only am I in the longest queue (line), but also the last one regardless of how much time has passed. It's as if the queue formed in front of me just to slow my progress, and then I represent the end of the queue for the day.

I refuse to stand in line again. If there is a line I go somewhere else. Road construction may be my Achilles heal as they trap you in that. Google maps helps a lot with that and traffic backups in general. Say I'm leaving work and there is an accident with no good way around, I'll just go to the store, sit and listen to a podcast, whatever, but I'm not getting in the line. I spent 11 years in the navy and I swear 3 of them were just standing in one line or another. We used to joke if you can across a line you might as well get in it even if you had no idea what it was for. It's just something they will send you to sooner or later. I've waited 3 hours in a line just to make a 15 min phone call.

The signature line is a joke, of course. It is impossible that all lines would be equally long all the time, so there often will be one longer than the rest, and therefore it has more people. Now let's just suppose people chose that line because they prefer long lines...
It just goes to show that a majority decision isn't always the best, or means anything for that matter.

I use to joke that wherever I go, on average it will be busier than average. Same kind of thing, an unavoidable but meaningless truth.
