It is hard to remember when I had at least 2 passengers on the coach. Middle is always empty.

Cool project mate.

Door stopper hinge weighs around 200g each on my old car and can easily be replaced with a piece of strap.

I used to see it more often on military vehicles.

Antenna

Replaced shark-fin antenna with a small block-off.
Now I cannot listen to FM/AM radio, but I don't care.

OEM fin weight is 238 g.
Block-off weight is only 8 g.

I have removed only 1 out of 3 antenna cable parts, so there will be more work.

Block-off is taken from US/MEX WV Jetta. It perfectly fits into Toyota's roof-hole.

Due to a war in Ukraine fuel economy becomes something more than just a "hobby". Now we have fuel shortage (especially 95) and price goes up.

What guys in US and EU feel? Are there any changes in fuel prices?

Most people in this country just think what the idiot box tells them to.

Others note that the price was rising before the current unpleasantness, and slap stickers on the pump with a picture of former Vice-President Biden saying "I did that".

The price has reached an historic high, but people should be most concerned about fertilizer and wheat.

Had I been living in a house with a reasonably-sized backyard I'd try to grow some staples, preferably organic in order to not have to rely so much on the fertilizers supplied from Russia. Brazil has a dangerous reliance on fertilizers from Russia, while many organic residues could be used as a feedstock not only for fertilizers but also for bio-CNG. Had the usage of domestic sewage not been such a taboo, and some substracts from the wastewater treatment plants been more widely accepted as a feedstock for fertilizer production, I'm sure it would be way easier to decrease the reliance on imported fertilizers.

Weight and NEDC fuel economy

1) I left my workbook at home, but I believe that for the New European Driving Cycle, a 10% change in weight equates to approximately 1.5% change in fuel economy.
2) In the USA, EPA fuel economy testing is done with 300-pounds ( 136-kg ) added to the vehicle.
3) The Auris is reported with a curb weight from 1190-kg, to 1480-kg.
4) So a 10% weight reduction would be 119-kg, to 148-kg, to see a 1.5% difference.
5) Or 79.33-kg, to 98.66-kg to see a 1% change.
