Undisquised Hyundai Ioniq

As I exited the freeway to go home, pulled next to a newer looking Hyundai with Michigan manufacturer plates. It didn't have any model names and it was unique looking. Googled the pic and later identified it as a Prius and Leaf competitor, the 2017 Hyundai Ioniq. It could have three different powertrains, an EV, plug-in hybrid and hybrid. Nice looking compact sedan.

Fortunate to see many disguised mules and undisguised Hyundai & Kia models driving around my neighborhood streets and local freeways. Hyundai Kia America Technical Center is located in our city. If I see them, I'll share them.

Wallpaper Wednesday: Hyundai IONIQ Electric (with bonus windmills of course)
The Ioniq production model I saw had black fill-in details instead of that matte silver grey finish. When it was driving behind me I thought it was a Dodge Dart, exact front end 'grille' detailing but when we exited together I saw the Hyundai logo. Anonymously blended right in the LA commuter traffic.

Nice. Does look a little like a Dart! Much better than the new Prius. It will only be plug-in? No hybrid?

...2016 Dodge Dart and the 2017 Hyundai Ioniq front grilles.

Fully Charged drives the Hyundai IONIQ Electric:

28kWh battery and ~140 mile range.

Pretty good looking car. I like that it's a hatchback, too many sedans driving around these days. 140 mile range for the EV is good, but seems a little low for something just coming out with 200+ mile options like the Bolt close on the horizon.

Looking carefully at the seams around the back, it appears to be a sedan (ugh) instead of a hatchback.

Look at the rear view shot here:
