A $75 toyo prius motor into a stock insight drivetrain (manual) but setup to have both akinized and lean burn.

Mainly because I know where to find a very cheap dead MT insight and toyo motor.

I've often wanted a 21st century version of the Stutz Bearcat: Stutz Bearcat - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It'd be optimized for driving on dirt roads, with large diameter but narrow tires, open cockpit with room for a couple of dogs... Maybe on a Honda CRV or similar chassis?

Or maybe something like this: http://www.thoroughbred-cars.com/car...%20Torpedo.htm

jamesqf -- Oh yes. That Tulipwood body is really set off by the copper gravel guard. I guess it's too much to hope that it's a dry sump oil tank.

Here's what I've been able to hold onto since the money stopped rolling in. The model was made around 1995. I still have it—or most of it.

I bought the donor car later. It had been baja'd, but included the front and rear lids. That saved me having to take a Saw-Z-All to the '58 valances. The top is even the right color!

The model had a Porsche 4-cam Carerra engine. The drivetrain I have available right now is a 0-miles 1776cc engine and a used 5-speed transaxle. I'm talking to MPaulHolmes in the Fossil Free Fuel subforum about an AC electric conversion. If that doesn't go into a more road-ready donor car it could go into into this.

Cool stuff! Freebeard I've always thought that the baja beetles were pretty cool. Probably wouldn't ever get around to doing it though.

Oh, is that what it is? I supposed it was for aerodynamics, like a front air dam.

Just looking at it, though, if you changed the headlamps for modern ones faired into the fenders, got rid of the side-mounted spare tire, and used modern curved glass for the windshiield, it seems as though you'd wind up with decent aero.

backpacker3 -- Neither've I, so far.

jamesqf -- For lack of a better term. In the National Auto Museum in Reno, they have a Rolls Royce whoe's whole body is made of copper.

I'd settle for a VW Beetle with the roof cut off and a topless boattail decked in varnished wood with cream pinstripes. You could have the two front seats pushed clear back, with a single rumble seat in the package shelf area over the transaxle. Brass handles to get in and out.

What you describe puts me in mind of the update Bruce Meyers did to the Manx.

'24-'27 Ford T. Want either an Olds straight 8, early Hemi V8, Aussie Hemi slant six, or Lincoln V-12. And all the usual hot rod stuff.

Family car would be a '58 Chevy 9-passenger wagon, straight six, three on the tree with overdrive. Drop a blue flame intake in there, split the manifold, and run the exhaust through Smithy's pipes.
