Today I removed a snake that decided to take a nap under my hood atop the battery.
Also resisted the urge to electrocute it before tossing it away.

Showed daughter how to clean PS wire mesh filter inside reservoir with MAF cleaner and left her to that 20-30 minute task. Spent several hours picking up and ordering parts on my own. That is what we call evenly-shared labor on this car. lol

I hear you. This morning I amended my parts order and started one return (all for daughter's car). My method is salvage and repair of parts as much as replace. Buying only PS Reservoir cap and gasket for 5 bucks rather than entire new reservoir for 25 bucks. My daughter and I learned more about the PS system by cleaning the reservoir tank than by just changing out the part for new. Stuff like that.
But it takes more time. If I were not working from home, I am not sure I would be doing even half of this.

Checked my oil catch can after a few hundred miles. No oil/water sludge in it. Only mild discoloration of the can bottom and baffle and the smell of gasoline. That is what I hoped for but not what I expected. Repairing the PCV Valve must have helped. But the lesson really is that I do not have much blowby. This engine is very healthy.

Success? I got some plywood home, and I am finally set for cutting the alumacore (aluminum/plastic sheet) I bought for the decklid spoiler project.

I've never figured out why the PCV dumps into a dry part of the intake instead of the wet part. All that does is get things gunked up to no end. If it went into the wet part it'd all get continuously washed through and burned. |

Probably just expense that keeps it the way it is... a simple little plastic valve is cheaper than whatever they would build into the head?
