My dream car is the Honda Insight. Not the new prototype, but the real Insight. Manual, of course!

My dream FE car would have to be the VW 1L, painted the color of painters tape, but metallic.

realistically though, the classic Insight in mint condition would be awesome

I have several favorites, and I want all of them...

3rd gen Metro with the most efficient components: 49hp XFi engine, manual transmission from a 1.3L, stripped down interior, low rolling resistance tires.

1st gen Insight manual, completely stock. Perhaps painted in the stock green color.

1998 or later (for scangauge compatibility) Ford Ranger 2.3 or 2.5 liter, manual transmission, regular cab, short bed.

VW Lupo 1.2L I3 TDI.

Re-engine my aerocivic with a VX or Insight ICE. At some point in the future, when I don't need to travel the distances that I do now, it would be interesting to convert the aerocivic into an EV.

Basjoos - how about a partial EV hybrid? You could use a low-powered EV motor to accelerate from stops, and use the gas motor to cruise only, which would net you MUCH better fuel mileage than you're currently seeing. You could almost maximize the fuel mileage potential of your gas engine that way.

I could honestly see 90MPG logs coming from you after doing something like that... even more interesting is that you could wire up the controller for the EV motor to supplement power for any time you're needing more than just cruising power from the gas motor.

This would benefit even more if you had a D15Z1 installed, b/c you could essentially be running in lean-burn 90% of the time, and still be able to coast/accelerate engine off-style.

I'm pretty sure the added weight wouldn't even begin to offset the benefits.

Probably a firstgen Insight. I really like my 8thgen Civic though, so I'm pretty happy right now (ability to carry lots of friends or cargo).

VW 1L for me. Since it's not possible, I am building my own streamliner metro.
