"winning" with less fuel

Success!

Not my success, just beautiful driving viewing.

How to "win" on less fuel. The Alpha #33 taking on the white Ford Galaxie. That Alpha is one of the prettiest, quickest, coolest little race cars ever (love the Galaxie, too, for diff reasons, like beating Europeans, lol):

See my car's mod & maintenance thread and my electric bicycle's thread for ongoing projects. I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.

A Hotshot driven by Fritz Koster and Ralph Deshow competed at the very first race at Sebring International Raceway in 1950, and it topped the Index of Performance. The following year a Crosley Hotshot was leading its class at the Le Mans 24-Hour and could well have won the Index of Performance when its voltage regulator failed late in the race.

The inaugural Sam Collier Memorial Sebring Grand Prix of Endurance was a six-hour event, based on a complex handicap system meant to balance the field regardless of engine size, called the "Index of Performance."

It's amazing to see those lumbering living room American Fords compete well with the nimble telephone booth European Alphas.
