WTB 1st Gen Insight MT only

Looking for a nice one or one that needs mechanical repair.

Seattle area.

The only 3 requirements are.

1. It cannot be that green color.

2. It must be a 5 speed.

3. No rebuilt title / prior accidents

Thanks.

You didn't specify a budget, but here are a couple in your area on Seattle Craigslist. Normally you can talk people/dealers way down on an eco-car when gas prices are this low, so it's a good time to buy one. You'd have to pull a Carfax on them to check their histories.

First one looks like it might actually come with a spare parts car, not sure about it being driven commercially though:

2000 Honda Insight

Another one:

2000 Honda Insight Hybrid, clean CarFAX, In-House finance w/no credit!

And another:

2000 Honda Insight Hatchback

And from the surrounding area:

2000 Honda Insight

Thanks for searching however.

The 1st one is Canadian as well as the last one. From what I understand importing and licensing them here is not worth it.

The 2nd one looks to be a car from Ohio. Just glancing at the pictures I can tell this car is going to have rusty fasteners all over it. I was thinking about test driving it though just to see how they feel.

The 3rd one, Red does look like a decent one. It's farther than I wanted to go but will probably end up driving down there an looking it over.

"Price will continue to drop until sold" - what a good time to be an Eco car buyer with phrases like that in a sales ad.

I think i'm going to go check the red one out and pick it up if all checks out. I like red and to me is worth spending a little bit more for a color I'm happy with.

That silver? one at the other car lot looks thrashed. Ricer pedal covers, some mickey mouse intake system, battery looks jimmy rigged......wouldn't even consider that one. Oh yeah is that rusty seat tracks?

Sheesh

I'm going to look at the red one today, I am still hoping someone chimes in with a private party one for sale.

Good luck with it. It's a buyer's market, so make sure you cut a good deal if you get it from a dealer, and get the Carfax on it

Insights have a push button KMs to miles dashboard display, so that removes a large part of the expense of importing one from Canada. You need a registered importer to do all the paperwork for you, that's about $450. Your dollar currently has a built in 20% advantage as well. Importing a cheap (say under $2000) car isn't worth your money, but on something rare like a 1st gen Insight, the expense of importing it is pretty much countered by the savings you get from the exchange rate.

Ah thanks for the input on importing a vehicle.

I went ahead and purchased the red one linked above. I got them to knock it down 10% and I am happy with that.

It's 2 owner. 2nd owner had it since 25k miles. Inside looks to be in very nice condition as does the exterior.

FYI anyone who stumbles upon this anytime soon. The sliver one at O'Neills wheels is an absolute heap. Save your time.
