I not sure what the question is ,but you can buy a modern day vacuum gauge (stepper motor drive)which has a warning Led , that you can set the vacuum level at which it illuminates ,same as a shift...

An internal of the sensor in question ,you can see two 3mm magnets in the paddle crossbar ,normally it comes with one ,i have added the second for better sensitivity, I did at one stage spot mill...
