IIRC that's what pulse and glide is meant to be. Never tried it.

On a sidenote, have you ever considered a transmission swap if you could actually find a 6-speed one with a broader gear spread?

Hi! That's a very nice car! What I would recommend is to practise if possible on your trips pulse and glide. The more powerful the engine, the bigger improvements you will see with this technique.

Sure!

There's one additional factor that wasn't on my list of "mods" that I'll mention before I do: we run ethanol-free gas 100% of the time. We live in a very rural area, but it turns out that...

94 Caprice Wagon project--now 50.55 MPG with "3/4 ton" drivetrain/suspension

I know it’s been awhile (over three years) since the last update on this project, but I thought I’d go ahead and report on the changes I’ve been slowly making.

With a ring and pinion of 2.14:1 and the NV3500 OD of 0.73:1 and 29" tires, engine rpm at 60 mph should be 1,086.

Thanks! :D

The tires are at about 46 psi. Sidewall max is 44.

It does slightly less than 1000 RPM at 55 MPH. So slightly less than 1090 at 60 and slightly less than 1273 at 70.
